The Sullivan County Historical Society invites you to the unveiling of the Historical Marker in honor of Louis “Lebel” Wichinsky, inventor of the “Bagel Machine.” Lebel was a well-known resident of Hurleyville where he had a family bakery. The marker will be located on Main Street Hurleyville by the Rail Trail parking lot. The ceremony will take place at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 17. Lebel’s daughter Ceil Wichinsky Mack and nephew Glenn Wichinsky will be present at the ceremony.
The sign has been made possible by the Wichinsky Family, Robert Gipson, Henry and Gordon MacAdam, and supported by the Sullivan County Historical Society. A special thank you to all involved who have made this event possible.
A prototype of the famous Wichinsky Bagel Machine is on display at the Sullivan County Museum, 265 Main Street, Hurleyville.
