It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing that long time board member, Bill Burns has passed away. He has served the Sullivan County Historical Society for over 40 years as a member, board member, archivist, officer, and a person to go to when a historical question comes upon. He will be greatly missed.

The following is taken from  a Smallwood-White Lake Fire Company posting on Facebook.

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William "Bill" Burns. 💔
The "Big Boss" as he was known affectionately by his son and our member Matt Burns was 93 years old and was married to the love of his life Pat for 66 years.
Bill was a WW II veteran of the Army Air Corps and a member of the American Legion.
Bill was a long time member of our department and was a past Commissioner.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Pat, his sons Matt and Doug, daughter Abigail many grandchildren and a great granddaughter.

Due to the current crisis affecting our country there will be no services at this time.
A celebration memorializing Bill's life will be held during the summer and will be announced on this page in the future.
Rest in Peace Bill
