“The grist mill at Jeffersonville owned by Wm. Bollenback was entirely destroyed by fire Saturday morning, entailing the destruction of property amounting to $8,000 with only $2,500 insurance.
“The fire supposed to be from spontaneous combustion or mice, was discovered about midnight in its early stages, but the firemen were seriously impeded in their work by frozen hydrants. Very little wind was blowing at the time and this probably saved the village from a much more serious conflagration.
“The mill was erected about 1858 and was purchased by the present owner 17 years ago of John Ross. Mr. Bollenback expects to rebuild.”
