"August 20 - In the Town of Bethel, John D Fulton, in the 87th year of his age.
"The deceased was one of the early pioneers to this county, having settled, with his father and brothers, upon the lands now belonging to the family, about 45 years ago, when the hills and valleys of Sullivan were almost an unbroken wilderness. The neighborhood received at that time, and has ever since borne the name of "Fulton Settlement."
